Shortbread House
Shortbread House is a large four bedroom house located in Northfleet, where our other houses are very adult focussed, this site is geared towards young people leaving children services and wanting a transitional placement as they move into adulthood. The house is brightly decorated with colourful murals on the wall and is usually filled with dance and laughter.
Shortbread House is:
- Staffed 24 hours a day / 365 days a week with a high staff ratio
- Staffing ratio does not reduce in the evening or weekends only at bedtime and staff will stay on until it is safe to lone work
- Individual learning plans are in place and it is a very visual site using photos and images to convey key messages
- This site is ideal for young disabled people who need 1:1 suppport
- Please note we do not provide personal care
- Shortbread House regularly offers respite placements, these tend to be planned placements
- This is a happy and bustling site, training takes place seven days a week and we always work in partnership with each person
- Referrals usually come via Social Services but we can assist you with getting the right support and assessment
- We minimise risks but do not remove them and cannot supervise any person 100% of the time; staff can and do offer 1:1 support
- Target age range for this project is 18-35 years old
- Placements can last up to five years or longer
